Kanchenjunga should not be underestimated. The third largest mountain on Earth rises 8500 meters above sea level.
This incredible photo of Kanchenjunga, a ridge that crosses the border of India and Nepal, was taken by the crew aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in December and shows what the Himalayas look like when the sun sets.
Due to its epic height, Kanchenjunga is one of the 'eight-thousanders': a select group of only 14 mountain peaks on Earth, which are over 8000 meters high.
Among the Himalayas, Kanchenjunga is the second highest, second only to Mount Everest, which is almost 300 meters higher, and is located 120 kilometers from Kanchenjunga in the western direction.
