Sneeze? This is hardly a symptom of coronavirus

If you see someone sneezing and are afraid they may have coronavirus, remember that sneezing is not a common symptom of COVID-19.

The main signs of COVID-19 are fever and dry cough. Other symptoms include fatigue, nausea, body aches, shortness of breath, and gastrointestinal problems.

Here are the symptoms associated with COVID-19 and how they compare to those of the common cold, flu and allergies:

For many people, the arrival of spring is allergic. Symptoms of seasonal allergies often include sneezing and nasal congestion, and itchy eyes.

But for COVID-19 patients, congestion only occurs in 4.8% of cases, according to a World Health Organization report that looked at about 56,000 Chinese COVID-19 patients.

Far more common symptoms of coronavirus include fever (in 87.9% of cases studied), dry cough (67.7% of cases), and fatigue (38.1%).

However, the overlap between COVID-19 symptoms and symptoms of other common conditions is part of the reason for the need for widespread testing. In addition, the patient can have both coronavirus and allergies at the same time.
