According to Oleg Orlov, director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP), RAS, the new module of the International Space Station being developed in Russia will soon be equipped with a centrifuge to create artificial gravity. It is planned to recreate a small radius centrifuge.
“The small-radius centrifuge is used to create artificial gravity on a transformable module currently being developed by RSC Energia,” Orlov explained, speaking about the prospects of this method for simulating artificial gravity.
Recall that the news about the development in Russia of an inflatable module similar to the American BEAM became known to the public in May this year. According to plans, in the future, such modules will be used to expand the living and working space for people to work in space.
