The rarest space system of three stars was recently discovered by US astronomers. Relevant information about this can be obtained by contacting the scientific publication Nature.
Thanks to the data of the ALMA telescope, installed in the Chilean Atacama Desert, scientists noticed a very unusual star system, consisting of two young stars located in the center, and another one located at some distance from them.
This system has been indexed as L1448 IRS3B. According to the astrophysicists who discovered it, the object is surrounded by a gas-dust disk with spiral arms. At the same time, all its signs indicate the general instability of education.
According to John Tobin, a researcher at the University of Oklahoma, L1448 IRS3B is an ideal example of a system thanks to which it is possible to visually trace the processes occurring in systems with companion stars and gas and dust disks.
Scientists emphasize that triple stars themselves are extremely rare. What can we say about systems surrounded by dust and gas, which are completely unique even on the scale of the entire Universe.
