Cassini probe captures wave maker in Saturn's rings

For the first time, the Cassini spacecraft managed to obtain a detailed image of Saturn's small moon, Daphnis. The new image of the satellite, published on the official NASA website, was taken by a spacecraft at close range on January 16, 2017.

It is believed that it is Daphnis who causes waves in the rings in both vertical and horizontal directions.

Three agencies worked together on the Cassini mission: NASA, ESA and ISA. Mission control is carried out at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of NASA's California Institute of Technology, Washington.
