In the United States conducted exercises in the event of an asteroid collision with Earth

According to the press service of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, under the leadership of NASA and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), an interdepartmental command post exercise was held in the United States in the event of an asteroid collision with Earth. This is the third such exercise in a row with the participation of the US space agency and FEMA.

The training was attended by the Air Force and the US national laboratories engaged in the development of nuclear weapons, as well as a number of other major departments and organizations in the California state agency, where the exercise took place.

During the training, actions were worked out in the event of a collision with the Earth of an asteroid, the size of which is supposedly from 100 to 250 meters. Initially, it was believed that the probability of this asteroid falling is 2%. According to the legend of the teachings, in May 2017, experts came to the conclusion that a collision of a celestial body with our planet is inevitable. By November 2017, it becomes clear that the asteroid will collapse either in southern California or near its coast in the Pacific Ocean.

The participants of the event worked out an action plan for the mass evacuation of the population of Los Angeles and its environs, that is, about 13 million people. During the training, not only models predicting the consequences of the described cataclysm were studied, but also options were prepared for refuting untrue information that may entail an unwanted public response.

According to the head of FEMA Craig Fugate, the conduct of these exercises is caused by the need for the authorities to work out all kinds of scenarios in the event of such disasters, which can cause very serious consequences, even though the likelihood of the existence of such threats today is extremely small.
