Mysterious volcano in Antarctica interested NASA

NASA scientists are not only trying to find any habitat for at least some kind of life on exoplanets existing in our Universe, but recently they are also very much attracted by ice in Antarctica, which can conceal convincing evidence of the existence of alien species on Earth in the past.

Antarctica, despite the fact that it was discovered a long time ago, is still one of the strangest places on Earth. Of particular interest to scientists is the mystery of Mount Erebus, the only active volcano at the South Pole.

Some independent researchers believe that Erebus may hide a portal to another world. The height of this active volcano is about 3794 meters above Ross Island. It is covered with ice for most of the year, and its temperature is always below freezing point. This volcano is one of the very few volcanoes that does not have a lava lake at the top of a volcanic crater.

The main structural difference between Erebus and another normal volcano lies in the central chamber, where all normal volcanoes have molten rock, while in Erebus it is covered in chilled and solid rock that blocks direct access to hot magma.

According to The Daily Galaxy, NASA is very interested in this volcano and is constantly monitoring the processes taking place in its vent in order to detect microorganisms living there. This research is being monitored remotely from the US McMurdo base on Ross Island.

Monitored by Aaron Curtis, Ph.D. and Research Fellow at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Curtis himself has spent months exploring the ice caves beneath the volcano using robots and computer technology to display and gather information. In his opinion, this could help in the search for life on other planets.
