NASA is ready for an open discussion regarding the proposed landing system on Jupiter's moon Europa, and therefore an attempt to search for life outside our planet, the agency's official website says.
Last year, the Space Agency conducted a study that is evaluating the feasibility of sending a space probe on a mission to Europe. It is assumed that the goals of the apparatus will have a fairly wide format: assessing the habitability of Europe based on the analysis of materials from the surface, identifying surface and subsurface characteristics, preparing for future expeditions to study the subglacial ocean.
It is believed that Jupiter's moon Europa (even smaller than the Moon) has a global ocean of salt water, which is hidden under the ice crust. This is what made Europe one of the most important targets for research related to the search for life outside the Earth.
Today, NASA scientists are confident that Europe may hold the keys to one of the main goals facing the world's space agencies – the answer to the question of whether we are alone in the universe.
