Scientists from the SETI Institute (Project for the Search for Extraterrestrial Civilizations in the United States) presented to the world a new theory of the origin of the natural satellite of the Earth. Surprisingly, it is fundamentally different from the generally accepted theory of a grand collision, which is considered fundamental today.
The theory of collision is based on the idea that the formation of the Moon was due to the collision of a large, the size of Mars, celestial body with our planet. After that, the debris of the cosmic body mixed with the terrestrial ones formed the Moon, which eventually moved into its own orbit.
According to the new theory, the Moon was initially near the Earth, constantly approaching it, which caused the collision of the satellite and the planet. Subsequently, this led to a similarity in the chemical composition of the Moon and the Earth. In addition, scientists note that the moon used to be located at a large angle to our planet, but over time this angle has changed by 5 degrees.
Despite the fact that at the moment there is no fundamental proof of the new theory, the version has already gained the right to life, and SETI scientists are collecting the necessary data in order to make an official report later.
