This summer, an expedition to the Yakut taiga is planned: the capital's documentary filmmakers and scientists from the RAS institutes are going to seriously investigate the phenomenon of the 'Valley of Death', located on the territory of the Mirny district in the area of the Olguydakh River, where strange things have been happening for a long time.
Since time immemorial, locals have been looking for huge metal cauldrons here, as well as hemispheres with holes, where, according to beliefs, 'one-eyed, incredibly thin people, dressed in iron clothes, slept'.
According to the Yakut epic 'Olonkho', it is in this place that once a century the demons of the underworld fight the heavenly heroes, which resembles a picture of atomic explosions. For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that in the 50s this territory was used as a testing ground for nuclear tests, and once an explosion was made two or three thousand times exceeded the calculated parameters, which was a surprise.
And nowadays, experienced hunters avoid the Olguydakh floodplain, since those who spend the night in boilers that store summer heat in severe frosts will certainly be poisoned or receive radiation exposure. According to Moscow researchers, these legends are most likely associated with archaeological cultural sites of unknown origin.
After analyzing local toponyms (Ottoamokh stream – 'Hole in the ground', Olguidakh river – 'With boilers', Heldue river – 'Iron house', Algy Timirnit river – 'Drowned big cauldron'), the expedition outlined the future search area. The plans of the members of the expedition are to detect anomalous boilers from a low altitude when flying around the river area in a light helicopter. This will involve radiometers and magnetometers.
Team members will be equipped in space suits to protect them from harmful effects. The composition of the scientific group in the amount of 20 people has already been determined. It will include geologists, archaeologists, a doctor and a magnetometer.
If the archaeological version of the origin of the cauldrons is not confirmed during the expedition, according to the experts' conclusions, it is possible to assume that an unknown type of geological heterogeneity has been discovered that are related to kimberlite pipes.
But in any case, scientific materials promise to be sensational.
During the period of the ufological boom, this area attracted a variety of expeditions. However, the results of their research were not made public, as they were conducted at an extremely amateur level. The last such 'sortie' was carried out by the team of Ivan Mackerle, who calls himself a Czech secret discoverer. Then people who went in search of boilers to the Vilyui taiga were forced to urgently retire due to a strange malaise. A positive moment of this trip was the fixation of the coordinates of two ideally round reservoirs, at the bottom of which the very mysterious cauldrons are likely to be found.
