SDO photo - impressive picture of solar activity

A stunning photo appeared on the website of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) mission – a probe rotating in the solar orbit. The close-up image shows a relatively small area of the Sun and allows you to see three active regions at once.

Special attention of SDO specialists was attracted by coronal emissions in the center, which took place on January 20, 2017. This prominence formed in just half a day, leading to the formation of plasma eddies and a bright magnetic arc.

Scientists who observed the process at a wavelength of ultraviolet light concluded that the similar activity was caused by competing magnetic forces.
