An asteroid about the size of a school bus (yes, yes, definitely a school bus) flew between the Earth and the Moon at 5 am Moscow time today, and scientists have noticed its approach very recently.
Astronomers immediately gave the object a nickname, designating it as 'Rerun', as well as the codename – asteroid 2017 BX. The flight altitude was no more than 256,000 km from the Earth's surface, and the flight speed was about 26,700 km / h.
The object was noticed by Slooh specialists back on Friday, January 20. The observations were broadcast live on the official website of the observatory.
