Astronomy lovers from South America and South Africa can watch the exciting event this Sunday 26 February. It will be an impressive sight – a solar eclipse, already designated, given the nature of the eclipse, as 'Ring of Fire'.

The eclipse of the sun will be most noticeable in the 100-kilometer swath through Chile, Argentina, Angola, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
A so-called annular solar eclipse occurs when the Earth, Moon, and Sun line up. But even when they are perfectly aligned, the Moon is too far from Earth to completely obscure the solar disk, giving the impression of a ring of fire instead.
