On April 15, at about 11:00 Moscow time, a lunar eclipse will occur. It occurs when the Moon enters the cone of the shadow cast by the Earth. During an eclipse, the Moon will not disappear, but will acquire a blood-red hue. This is due to the fact that the moon continues to be illuminated by the sun's rays passing through the earth's atmosphere, the atmosphere being the most transparent for the red-orange part of the spectrum, and it is these rays that will mainly reach the surface of the moon.
The duration of the eclipse will be 78 minutes. Only residents of the Western Hemisphere – North and South America will be able to observe it. But don't be in a hurry to get upset, NASA is organizing a live broadcast of this event, you can watch it here.
