Due to the fact that astrophotographer Gerald Reman (Gerald Rhemann) managed to make some good shots of comet Lovejoy 13 December 2013, he was able to compose an amazing mosaic image of this tailed object. If you look closely to the tail of this comet, you can see here a variety structures in the form of separate straight and slightly curved jets.
This long-period comet was discovered on September 7, 2013. of the year. discovered by Australian astronomer Terry Lovejoy (Terry Lovejoy) with a 0.2-meter catadioptric system (mirror-lens optics).
According to astronomers, the perihelion of this comet will be very soon. It falls on December 22, 2013, but it can already be observed in telescopes and even with the naked eye, if you’re very lucky, although without corresponding magnifying optics, it still does not look too bright.
From December 12 to January 14, Comet C / 2013 R1 Lovejoy will be located in the constellation Hercules.
