Scientists have noticed an asteroid approaching our planet, who was given the name 2014-YB35, last year. According to all calculations he had to fly past our planet, getting as close as possible with her at the end of March.
And so he safely “passed” past the Earth – yesterday, March 27. His speed was 23 thousand miles per hour, and maximum rapprochement with our blue planet – more than four s half a million kilometers. Note that on space to scale this is a small distance, although completely safe for Earth, why this cosmic object did not cause any alarm. And this despite the fact that the meteorite was twice as large asteroid 2004 BL86, “visited” us in late January of this years and even caused some excitement among astronomers.
The 2014-YB35 meteorite turned out to be really large, its diameter, according to NASA experts, was at least one kilometer. By the way, we recall that NASA’s plans for rapprochement with such large asteroids, chipping off pieces of them containing rare rocks, and transporting them to Earth. Of course, this will not happen tomorrow, but, as scientists argue, it is such a mining of rare “minerals” may become a future mining priority industry earthlings.
