A new way to deal with space debris

D-Orbit has proposed a new way to deal with space garbage called D3, which is different from all others (and such hundreds of projects) simplicity and high efficiency. At least least, theoretically, these simplicity and effectiveness are fully justified, since there is no serious practice of using D3 yet.

We clarify that according to ESA, in that part of space that used for all kinds of artificial Earth satellites, in addition to these devices themselves fly too much debris and debris: up to 1 cm in diameter – 170 million, up to 10 cm – 800 thousand, over 10 cm – 30 thousand. And every year so dangerous (for the same satellites and even manned spacecraft, the ISS) of the space “sowing” becomes more and more, since we have so far learned to only launch something on Earth’s orbit, even blow up their devices there, but clean up fragments from there – not yet.

NASA’s only waste collection tool Space Debris Sensor, installed on the ISS, is still not collecting, but fixing and studying fragments of terrestrial origin. Really working mechanism for collecting space debris from our orbit no planet yet. The fact is that all projects to combat space debris does not go further than theoretical calculations.

What is the essence of a new way to deal with space debris

D-Orbit was the first to not only offer its flagship D3 system, but has already successfully tested it in space. That’s what it says on this occasion, the founder of D-Orbit, Luca Rossettini:

The D3 system is a kind of plug-in engine, which is able to lead any spent object in space to thermal death in the atmosphere. We suggested installing the D3 system on all launched satellites (offered for free!), but not received no support in this matter from any space agencies of the world, not from a single private company, so we had to run the test device with D3 ourselves – and the first test passed successfully.

What does this give the whole world as space debris poses a danger to the whole Earth, despite who is the greater everyone litter in space (Russia, USA and China – watch the video). D-Orbit immediately began to receive orders for the D3 device, and this is only the first step in implementing the flagship system for cleaning up garbage in outer space. And although at present the company is only working on installing D3 on yet running devices, in the future she plans to install a plug “engine of destruction” and on working satellites (installation principle shown in the photo). Of course, this will not clear all the garbage in such necessary for us to live a normal cosmic life on Earth space, however, to some extent guarantees though that the volume of garbage in the Earth’s orbit would not be catastrophic increase…
