Colonization of the Red Planet under the Mars One program postponed to two years. This was stated by Bas Lansdorp – the head of this project.
An official statement from a Dutch businessman says that the reason for the shift of all planned Martian flights by two years became the financial difficulties of the company since funds from investors, as it turned out now, are not enough to carry out a mission to colonize this planet. And thus, Lansdorp summed up his speech, the first colony will now fly to Mars only in 2027.
However, journalists believe that such a statement did not appear by chance it was caused not by financial problems, but by a completely different one – the company’s desire to build a good face with a bad game after criticism from astrophysicist Joseph Roche. Recall that once among the hundred finalists of the program, that is, plunging into it quite deeply and having learned a lot firsthand, Roche called the project adventure, whose main goal is not the colonization of Mars, but collecting money from gullible people who want to fly to a distant the planet.
Joseph also stated that in Mars One’s project less than three thousand people actually applied, not a fantastic number of more than two hundred thousand, as it was officially announced.
