It turns out that nuclear weapons carry not only terrible danger to people, but even at one “wonderful” moment can save humanity from total annihilation, for example, as a result of collisions of our planet with huge asteroids. During for decades activists have tried to push world leaders for them to decommission all nuclear warheads. However, as it turned out, a step that is supposed to help make peace makes us completely defenseless in the face another danger that can in seconds completely destroy our civilization. Experts tend to believe that weapons of mass destruction cannot be completely abandoned, because it can save our world from the threats lurking in Space. In a new study that was conducted in space center located in Los Alamos (Mexico), specialists tried to determine the best way to destroy or reject an asteroid flying to Earth. Their goal was to study the effectiveness of use nuclear weapons to change the approaching orbit space body, or the complete destruction of a potentially dangerous object. This study stems from recent awareness by scientists of the fact that even relatively small asteroids in collision with the surface of our planet can have a serious destructive impact, especially if the impact when they fall occurs in large cities. Former astronaut Ed Lou believes that advance is impossible with accurately predict where and when the following can happen a serious collision of the asteroid with the Earth, so people need have protection, not rely on a blind chance.
