ExoMars-2016 modules successfully divided

Interplanetary Russian-European station “ExoMars-2016” successfully flew to the Red Planet and without any problems completed the first responsible operation – separation of modules. One of them went on landing, and the second – continued to move in the orbit of the planet.

The press service of Roscosmos also said that while the TGO module will orbit Mars so that in go on to the orbit of its satellite, module Schiaparelli 19 October 2016 is due to land on the Red Planet.

According to scientists, Schiaparelli will enter the atmosphere of Mars at a speed of 21,000 kilometers per hour and this will happen at an altitude of about 122 kilometers. At an altitude of 11 kilometers from the surface planet landing module will open a parachute, and its brake engines extinguish the speed of Schiaparelli to 4 kilometers per hour. Brake themselves engines will automatically shut off two meters from surface.

In Roskosmos express confidence that all planned operations will go without any problems, so let’s hope that Russian-European Martian mission “ExoMars-2016” will be successful.
