The nose is one of the most visible parts of the human body, transforming in the process of evolution. At different nations repeatedly the appearance of the nose, adjusting to the surrounding conditions and climate. If ever human beings colonize Mars, and on Red people begin to live on the planet, then their noses will gradually change, moreover quite significantly. Polish experts decided to determine how as a result, the organ of olfaction of an earthling – a distant colonist from us (and not only by distance) of the planet.

Experts took into account the low average temperature on Mars (approximately minus 63 degrees Celsius), a thin atmosphere that lets through large volumes of solar radiation, and low pressure, thanks to which sound propagates there much worse than on Earth. IN As a result, the researchers settled on three variants of the form “Martian” nose, each of which will have its own benefits and theoretically simplify a person’s life in the fourth remoteness from the sun to the planet.

The first nose has a kind of “skirt” that will allow resonate to the human voice, extending to large distance. The second version adapted to Martian conditions the nose has four nostrils, which allows warming more efficiently the cold air of the red planet. Finally, the third nose is flat, optimally protected from solar radiation. However, breathing on Mars without changing its atmosphere will not work even with the presence of one of these unusual noses.

Notably, the American astronaut Bill Anders, who visited the moon during the Apollo 8 mission, criticized in a recent interview, humanity’s plans to go to Mars, explicitly hinting that nobody ever flew. According to the 85-year-old explorer, such an undertaking is unreal, useless and ridiculous, because our civilization is not has the necessary resources to fly to the Red Planet and, most importantly, for a long life on it. We believe that an experienced “explorer” knows better what and how, when it comes to colonization of distant planets …
