This erroneous term is like a tribute to memory early 20th century astronomers who used small bad quality telescopes. If you observe the nebula through a similar tool, it gives the impression of being small, compact, planet-like object – hence the name. Modern scientists know that planetary nebulae are shining “containers” of dust and gas that pushed out by dying stars. In the center of such nebulae are the remains of the stars themselves – white dwarfs, writes Science Daily. “We’ve previously drawn an analogy between natural phenomena. and the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. This applies in particular Ambrim volcano in the Republic of Vanuatu, whose lava lakes are from the ground resemble Mount Orodruin.
