Photos from open Sources A group of Japanese experts conducted an experiment, designed to simulate the effect of a fallen comet on the surface, where any life is missing, including unicellular. Scientists frozen mixture of water, silicates and amino acids, then on a large speeds dropped ice into a sterile laboratory container. Gas chromatography showed that some amino acids formed short peptides joined together.
According to the researchers, the cold conditions on the comet provoked the synthesis of peptides. This discovery indicates that some comets were very likely to play key role in conveying the seeds of life to our planet. Also it means that similar processes of chemical evolution can also observed on other planets where icy celestial bodies fell. For example, even in the solar system, the ice satellites of Saturn and Jupiter, in particular, Enceladus and Europe, were probably exposed similar bombardment by comets. That is, in theory there may exist organics.
The Japanese specify that the creation of short peptides represents is a key step in the chemical formation of complex molecules. If this process has already begun, then to create long chains of peptides in aquatic and terrestrial environments, much smaller energy costs.
