It’s hard to say whether it was once on the Red Planet biological life and advanced civilization as it is constantly some researchers want to prove, for example, virtual archaeologists and ufologists, but for now – it’s purely dead with biological point of view of the celestial body.
It simply cannot have life, like earthly life, they say scientists at the University of Edinburgh Scotland who succeeded find out that chemical compounds on the surface of Mars – perchlorates (perchloric acid salts) – deadly toxic to everything living (see journal Scientific Reports).
Specialists also found that in combination with ultraviolet radiation, which is quite powerful on the Red Planet, such microbes like Bacillus subtilis (used in the study) and like them die in a matter of minutes. And hydrogen peroxide and iron oxides, which are also abundant on the surface of Mars, accelerate the death of microorganisms tens of times.

Note that the perchlorates on Mars were also detected by the Phoenix apparatus, who in 2008 conducted an analysis of Martian soil (concentration they amounted to 0.4-0.6 percent, which then even surprised scientists). However, the Curiosity rover, taking a sample of soil on the Red Planet, confirmed such a chemical composition. That’s why combined with a high level of ultraviolet radiation so attractive Mars is practically cannot have biological life on its surface.
If it is possible to admit it on this dead planet, then only only deep from the surface, or it should have a completely different nature that is not peculiar to us, and therefore does not have any with us contact.
