It seems to us that today we know a lot about Mars. With one parties, scientists using probes and rovers continue to study Red planet on the subject of its evolution and at the same time trying to find there are at least some traces of life on it, and on the other – ufologists and independent researchers are trying to detect in the pictures, sent from Mars, something that would prove the presence there civilization, or at least aliens.
And those, and others are driven, in general, the same thing, that’s just approaches to the processing of materials and data are different. The thing is the fact that it was scientists, not ufologists, who first encountered amazing riddles of Mars, and were so amazed that before still trying to find a rational explanation for them. But … in vain till.

And it all began on December 11, 1896, when the British astronomer Illing noticed a bright flash on the Red Planet, which is explained none of the scientists could. And here is the science fiction writer Herbert Wells soon released his thundered world-wide novel “War worlds, “and his assumption that the outbreak is related to the Martian civilization, still excites the minds of people.
It was after this that the earthlings literally “fell ill with Mars”, and amateur astronomers at that time of the night sat out for telescopes in the hope of seeing new flashes. However, another the form of a mysterious white strip, was recorded only in 1924 astronomer Barabashov from the USSR. Strip, as opposed to short flashes of 1896, lasted a relatively long time – more than 4 minutes. True, this did not give scientists anything and did not explain anything.

But the brightest Martian outbreak occurred on June 4, 1937, it lasted more than 5 minutes, and it was observed by many astronomers of the world. The bright bluish flash was so powerful that it compared with the luminous southern cap of Mars.

Since then, many years and even decades have passed, flashes no longer repeated, and their nature remains mysterious, not looking at all of today’s achievements in the study of Mars. There is, true, two, more or less reasonable, assumptions. Here they are:
- these were volcanic eruptions or impacts of large meteorites. However, both must leave on the surface of the Red Planet huge craters, but they are not;
- astronomer from Moscow Davydov believes that the origin of outbreaks – mirror, they say, in winter, ice crystals in the atmosphere of Mars create a huge reflective surface that sends to Earth strong beams of concentrated sunlight. True to this theories have their weak points, for example, why is reflection so stable for several minutes and where it is supposedly natural phenomenon has disappeared from the Red Planet since 1956?
In a word, the mysterious outbreaks on Mars are neither scientists nor ufologists cannot explain today. Some are not very convincing, but others are purely fantastic theories worthy of Herbert’s pen Wells. And so far it comes down to one thing – we are still smooth about Mars we don’t know anything …
