Astronomers spotted a mysterious signal in 240 million light-years from Earth, in Perseus Cluster – one of the largest objects in The universe. This unidentified signal represents “intense spike at a very specific wavelength in X-ray spectrum. “At the moment, scientists can not explain nature of its origin.
One of their theories is particularly interesting: This signal may be “created by the decay of sterile neutrinos – particles that advance into dark matter candidates. ”
To detect this signal, the Harvard-Smithsonian team Center for Astrophysics at Cambridge, Mass., Took 17 days observations of the Perseus Cluster collected over ten years X-ray Observatory “Chandra” NASA and “XMM-Newton” European Space Agency.
This cluster has titanic dimensions – this is one of the largest objects in the universe. It contains thousands of galaxies, immersed in cyclopean clouds of gas. This is not the first time when scientists find something unusual in this star cluster. IN 2003, they spotted in it “one of the lowest notes in the world”, having a fluctuation period of 9.6 million years. She is 57 octaves lower keys in the center of the piano keyboard. “Here is this note in accelerated pace:
And this video shows the location of the Perseus Cluster on earth firmament, as well as some galaxies in its composition.
