NASA scientists issued an emergency warning – to our an asteroid flies on the planet, the size of which is comparable to the Egyptian the pyramid. Experts call this facility the most dangerous since the existence of dinosaurs.

May 6, 2022 a dangerous asteroid will fly

Scientists from NASA reported that there is a high probability of it collisions with the Earth, giving the approximate date of the collision – May 6 2022 year.

More detailed information about this celestial body is published. American Space Agency: asteroid is designated JF1, its size is about 128 meters. Currently the probability of a collision is not so high, but, according to scientists, asteroids with such dimensions can often change their trajectory movement.

What happens if an asteroid collides with Earth

If the asteroid JF1, the size of which is comparable to Egyptian the pyramid of Giza, hit the Earth, it will be equal to 230 kilotons in TNT equivalent. For example, the released energy the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima equals 15 kilotons per TNT equivalent.

Such an asteroid is able to destroy a city with a multi-million by the population. However, if it falls into the ocean, then a strike can cause a monstrous tsunami that can then hit the coastal territory.

Why asteroid was reported just now

The fact is that modern technologies and methods of searching for celestial bodies do not allow to notice absolutely all objects plowing space. For example, August 25 past Earth two asteroids slipped through, with diameters of about 120 meters. It later turned out that one of them walked three times closer to our planet than scientists expected – instead of 1 million kilometers turned out to be only 353 thousand kilometers.

July 25 ESA overlooked the approach of an asteroid that passed near the Earth at a distance of only 71 thousand kilometers. And this it turned out only a month later – in August, when scientists processed data provided by orbiting satellites.
