An interesting scientific experiment was launched in the Moscow Region dubbed Luna 2015. For eight days six Russian girls will remain in absolute isolation from the outside world. Their living conditions, according to Russian scientists, will be as close as possible to a real flight to natural satellite of our planet. The goal of the experiment is reportedly to imitations of a moon travel crew that consists only of the fair sex.
The authors of the study were the Federal Space Agency and the Moscow Institute of Biomedical Problems. The project started today, on October 28th. The brave volunteers will spend eight days in complete isolation. Scientists will study mechanisms of adaptation of the female body to overload and stay in sealed object simulating a spaceship. Besides, the project will prepare young scientists who will be in the future independently design and implement various fundamental and applied experiments in the field of space medicine.
Among the many young Russian girls who expressed a desire to participate in this study, ten were selected candidates, however, then their number had to be reduced to six. The experiment is being held with thirty young scientists. Specialists continuously study girls’ health indicators through analogues located on the International Space station equipment. It is clarified that scientists are not following only for the physical but also mental state of the participants experiment. In addition, the researchers intend to find out how cohesive and competent is space crew consisting exclusively of women.
Note that this experiment is not unique to Of Russia. Four years ago Roscosmos together with foreign partners organized the Mars-500 project, in which the crew, consisting mainly of men, stayed for some time in conditions simulating a flight to the Red Planet. Now now domestic experts are interested in sending to simulated space travel of women. According to scientists, the weaker sex has special psychological and moral qualities that in the future will be indispensable for colonization other planets.
