A cherry tree that has grown out of a stone that is eight months in orbit, bloomed for several years earlier than usual, with unusual colors. Young cherry a tree that is only four years old, grown from seed, which for eight months was aboard the International The Space Station bloomed on April 1, for about six years ahead of schedule. Wonder Tree sprouted from one of 265 sakura seeds selected to participate in the project, within whose seeds of various types of cherry trees were collected from 14 various areas of Japan for a space experiment. These bones were sent to the ISS in November 2008, back to Earth. they returned in July 2009, making 4100 revolutions around the Earth, – together with the Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata. Some of them were sent to conduct tests in laboratory, but most returned to their native places, where they planted. By April of this year, the Cosmic Cherry Tree, planted near the Ganjoji Buddhist temple grew to four meters in height and suddenly released nine buds. At there were only five petals in full bloom (for comparison: on the tree from which this seed was taken, each flower has about 30 petals). Usually a tree of this species produces buds. only after 10 years. It should be noted that the sakura planted near Ganjoji Temple, – not the only early-blooming cosmic cherry tree: flowers were seen on four more young trees.
