Researchers are still arguing about whether there is water on Mars, and in what condition can it be present on the surface of Red the planet.
To find out, the researchers developed a mathematical a model that as a result showed that on Mars water can exist, but only in the form of a strong brine. And in this it can be on the Red Planet just a few hours in a year.
Before that, scientists were building various hypotheses about the composition of this water, and the main emphasis was on the presence of ice on the surface of Mars. It turns out that the moisture content is only enough for a small hoarfrost, which immediately evaporates.
The mathematical model developed by the researchers takes into account many factors, including heating the surface from the sun, thermal conductivity of ice and soil, convection.
The model allows an increase in ice temperature above minus nine degrees, as salt can lower the temperature freezing water. If the ice layer is very thick, then it is simply covered with dust, being in salty soil. Considering this circumstance, scientists believe that on the surface of the distant planets may arise pools of brine that do not exist for a long time and after a few hours they just evaporate.
