ESA scientists share a new image of the crater, which was obtained using the Martian research apparatus Mars Express.

The photo captures the Moreux crater, whose dimensions are about 135 kilometers and a depth of 3 kilometers.

This image of the crater was obtained by the Martian probe back in October 2019, however, only now have researchers published him on the web.

In the center of the crater there is a hill, the height of which is about two kilometers. The scientists’s attention was drawn to the walls of the crater, that look like they were splashed with ink. The experts ESA believes black is a pyroxene-rich sand material and olivine. These minerals usually have a dark appearance.

Previously, scientists discovered traces of a monstrous disaster on Mars, which happened because of an asteroid falling on the planet billions of years back. The Martian crater of Lomonosov serves to that explicit confirmation.
