American astronomers at the Renaissance Institute said that our the Milky Way galaxy is still misrepresented as flat disk, in fact – this is a kind of accordion, compression which increases with distance from the sun.
This conclusion, scientists made, having thoroughly studied the cluster of stars Unicorn rings, which with their uneven arrangement with several similar areas remote from each other through sections of voids in thirteen thousand light years, very reminiscent of folds of clothing or accordion.
Astronomers are sure that the Milky Way has not always been so, then there is in the form of an accordion, most likely, they say, it happened due to a collision with another, dwarf, galaxy or with a huge a bunch of dark matter.
The new discovery of scientists will help astronomers calculate the real the size of our galaxy, and will also contribute to more successful study of gravitational waves and the properties of the dark matter.
