Americans plan to begin a more detailed study of the surface Mars. But for this, there are not enough cameras installed on space satellite, need more mobile and universal aircraft with filming equipment.
It is such a drone (helicopter) that is now being developed by JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) of the United States National Office for space exploration.
Such drones, in the first place, will go through much more distance for a Martian day, and secondly, capable of more panoramic (without today’s restriction) to remove the surface, not looking at her complex terrain. Martian helicopter will fly ahead of the rover and examine in detail all the corners of the red the planet.
The drone will run on solar panels, it is capable not only to observe and shoot, but also to raise any objects to kilograms. For more information about the Martian helicopter, see video.
