There was definitely water on Mars: they found clay

New research by scientists from the Technological Institute Georgia (USA). New research by scientists from the Technological Georgia Institute (USA) showed that on Mars – a lot clay. And most importantly – those minerals that are part of clays are formed when on the surface of the planet water is present for a long time. It turns out that on the Red Planet, indeed, the oceans splashed. Moreover, to form such a large amount of clay, as well as some other minerals and rocks most of the planet’s surface was supposed to be under water for quite a long time. Recall that clay was first discovered on Mars by the Opportunity rover in 2004 year. She was found in the rocks of the Eagle Crater in 2004, and later for a while she was found in the area known as Wray. Later in 2009, it was discovered in the Endeavor Crater. Supposedly earlier on the Red Planet there was even more clay, but over time it was hidden under a layer of lava after the eruption of volcanoes. About it reported back this fall, American geologists Briony Hogan and Jim Bell from the University of Arizona. In the images transmitted by the probe Mars Express, they made out as if melted dunes. Scientists suggested that the glass covering the dunes formed as a result of volcanic eruptions. Which, in their opinion, convincingly proves: Mars had a turbulent volcanic past. As a result, glass steel a total of about 10 million square kilometers surface.
