An unusual image of the northern region of Mars was received by scientists, who are sure that it will now give more information about unique natural phenomenon.

Images were taken on May 25, 2019 by Trace Gas Station Orbiter orbiting Mars.

Photos enable researchers to track the start spring in the polar regions of the Red Planet. In winter the surface of the planet in these places is covered with a thin layer carbon dioxide ice.

Scientists were most surprised by the melting of ice, since this layer, Bypassing the liquid state, it immediately turns into steam. While melting ice on the Martian dunes occurs from bottom to top, and on Earth it happens the opposite – from top to bottom.

Between the upper layer of ice and the lower layer of sand appear accumulations of gas, which break out, throw up the soil and most change the surface topography.

ESA scientists said Martian dunes have various forms, giving an idea of the preferred direction of the wind. If in for a long time to watch them, you can find out how bottom sediments spread across the planet.

Earlier, ESOREITER talked about a ufologist who looked at the surface of Mars is the remains of a large reptile.
