Canadian and American scientists talked about their new a study that proves that at great depths under the lunar the surface are huge deposits of precious metals. The study is published in the journal Nature Geoscience.

A team of researchers led by Professor James Brenana reported that they found a connection between the presence of sulfur in volcanic rocks of the moon with iron sulfide located deep under the lunar surface. Exploration of mineral deposits on Earth shows that iron sulfide is an ideal place for deposits precious metals such as palladium and magnesium.

The results of the studies showed that the detected sulfur indicates iron sulfide present in the lunar rock. If the principle of the formation of lunar rocks is similar to earth, then under huge satellite deposits may be present precious metals.

This assumption is supported by the hypothesis of the origin of the moon, when about 4.5 billion years ago a massive object collided with our planet, tearing out part of matter from it. This suggests that the Earth and her companion may have a similar internal composition.

To test the above hypothesis Brenan and the team researchers conducted experiments with the recreation of superhigh pressure and temperature inside the moon. Scientists were able to figure out how much hydrogen sulfide can form on the moon. Then they identified the content of iron sulfide in the resulting composition. It turned out that its quantity was enough to establish a “connection” with precious metals.

It is necessary to take into account the moment that, on the moon, most likely precious metals were not carried to the surface by lava flows, but remained deep in her bowels. To find out, you need to conduct research which so far on the Earth’s satellite seems possible.

According to Brenan, geologists have access to samples raised from the bowels of the Earth, however, such samples have not yet been received from the Moon. Perhaps, with the Moon, things may not be the same as with the Earth.

Earlier ESOREITER talked about what was discovered by the Chinese rover strange substance on the moon.
