Souvenir statues of Maitreya are quite popular in China. (Maitrey), called the “laughing Buddha,” and many people use them as good luck charms. But what could be better than a statue “laughing Buddha” in real size, and even more so – living smiling Gautama!

Photos and videos of a complete bald man depicting “laughing Buddha” in various public places, flickering in social networks from last fall. Then the Chinese newspapers reported that every time he receives a lot for his performance applause and rewards as people hope their offering bestows divine grace upon them. The statement is that an entrepreneurial Chinese just sits in a cult position of Buddha, with bare stomach and a characteristic smile on his face.

Since last year, the “laughing Buddha” has become extremely popular not only in real life, but also on the Internet, it’s not bad earns on a fairly simple but so attractive imitation. In addition to the “main job” on the streets, a man by invited Chinese companies involved in corporate events and increasingly publishes materials on the Web about his activities.

Mostly people find his imitation of Maitreya interesting or funny – in a word, completely harmless, but there are those who sees this as an insult to the deity.

A the wise Buddha, presumably, will forgive his “double” and only smiles from heaven over his simple theatrical productions.
