Interpret sacred texts and also study correlation in man and society of reason and faith in Russia will now be separate specialists. In the Russian Federation officially approved another scientific specialty – theology. New science will study sources of theological knowledge, practical activity religious organizations, the foundations of religious and religious doctrines, and also much more.
The research areas of Russian theologians will be theory cultures, history of denominations, religious apologetics, sacred texts, legal norms of confessions, correlation of reason and faith, understanding of personality problems, the influence of religion on politics, religious education and so on. Such a specialist will receive special passport securing the field of research for which A Doctor or PhD degree may be awarded.
Not so long ago in a number of domestic higher educational institutions Departments of theology appeared. In August of the current city, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the introduction of such a department is the prerogative of the universities themselves.
Many Russians may wonder: why theology is needed when Do we already have a science called religious studies? Specialists report that between religious studies and theology there is significant difference. So, religious studies study institutions, phenomena, social relations and religious ideas, that is, this science is more based on facts. Theology, one way or another, tend to appeal to faith in God and higher powers, existence which official science does not recognize or consider with scientific point of view.
