Yesterday, September twenty-third, President Vladimir Putin together with the chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Ravil Gainutdin inaugurated the famous Moscow Cathedral Mosque. Restoration, as you know, lasted a whole decade. Henceforth a religious building can accommodate up to tens of thousands the person that makes the Russian mosque the largest in Europe.

Vladimir Putin noted that the mosque acquired a new look that will fit into the architecture with dignity multinational Russian capital. The President of the Russian Federation hoped that the temple will become a major source of spirituality, knowledge and truths.
Rashid Nurullin, who led the restoration of the building, said that the interior decoration of the renovated mosque has become very painstaking and difficult work. In particular, the builder noted that the so-called a dirty area where parishioners still don’t take off their shoes and outerwear, trimmed with pure marble. Quranic inscriptions here covered gold leaf. The temple complex acquired one hundred and forty chandeliers, the largest of which reaches a diameter of three with half meters and weighs a ton. Each of the tiles used in the decoration was made by craftsmen manually and woolen carpets were brought straight from Turkey. The shape of the windows here remains the exact same as before.
Moscow Cathedral Mosque was built in 1904. It is noteworthy that it was never closed in Soviet times. The restoration began in 2005, when the temple was recognized as an emergency. In during the reconstruction the area of the religious building was increased from a thousand to twenty thousand square meters. Construction made only on charitable money, the total amount of which amounted to about one hundred and seventy million dollars.
