Superstitious people know numerous signs about knives. Stabbing and cutting objects often become the 'heroes' of popular beliefs. With the help of a knife, you can do useful things, cook food, protect yourself, or you can take life or maim a person.
The 'participants' in blood tales are used by sorcerers for various rituals. Therefore, finding a knife is an unfavorable omen. But if such an event occurs, there is no need to panic. Negative omens can be neutralized.

- To protect livestock from disease and mortality, theft, a knife was stuck into the wall of the barn.

- The knife, hidden under the threshold, 'cut off' the hostile energy from the whole house and its inhabitants.
- A circle drawn on the ground with a metal blade reliably protected from witches.
If we turn to superstition, then 'finding a knife on the street' is an omen of unpleasant events, such as:
- job loss;
- attack;
- quarrel with family;
- financial difficulties;
- difficulties in finding a common language with colleagues;
- chronic diseases;
- unwanted move;
- an intractable disease.
The ancient Slavs explained why to find a knife on the street, as follows:
- If the object lay as if it cut the path to the one who found it – to death.
- A weapon with a rusted blade was found – separation from a dear person is coming.
- A sharp knife was lying on the way – a harbinger of difficulties and failures.
- Got a broken one – a black streak of unforeseen circumstances is expected that disrupts all plans.
But losing a knife is not an unambiguous sign. Some interpreters argue that getting rid of major troubles or unsolvable problems is associated with the loss of a dagger. They believe that fate in this way averts trouble: they say, the enemies were plotting something against you, and now their plans are ruined.
Other connoisseurs of folk wisdom think the opposite: the loss of a knife is a threat to the life of its owner. Moreover, we are talking about a man, a woman is only threatened with a temporary breakdown, a series of domestic troubles.
Possible consequences for the finder
Why is a person who finds a cutting object on the road in trouble? A knife is an instrument of witchcraft rituals. Through it:
- piercing a voodoo doll to harm a certain person; make bloody sacrifices;
- evoke evil spirits and demons;
- reduce spoilage.
A knife is a carrier of mystical information that will 'capture the brain' of the one who finds this dangerous object.
And if damage was removed, troubles will pass to the individual who found the tool.
Aside from witchcraft, there are no comforting predictions associated with the finding of a knife, it is considered a bad sign. The sign says: if a cutting object “tasted blood”, that is, at least one enemy was killed or wounded by it, then even falling into the hands of the enemy, he will continue to seek revenge. New crimes will be committed as a weapon.
According to the omen, if you find a knife with a negative past and take it for yourself, it will happen to a peaceful good person, bad energy will ruin the life of a righteous person. This will be expressed:
- feeling unwell, severe headaches;
- in groundless pangs of conscience;
- in poor health and loss of strength;
- in unpredictable outbursts of emotions;
- in the appearance of thoughts of suicide.
A person can become uncontrollable, aggressive, hardened against everyone around him. Having appropriated the find, a person takes upon himself all the sins from the shoulders of the former owner of the magic item.
How to protect yourself from evil?
If you had to find a knife lost on the street, do not be alarmed (this omen is not for you until you think about it), do not study the find, do not take the weapon in your hands, bypass the find.
If a very beautiful, interesting or necessary thing is found, and there is no strength, refuse it. To take it with you, avoiding trouble, follow these steps:
- Take it easy so that you don't 'arouse' the negativity that comes from the knife.
- Leave a few coins in the place where the knife lay (this way you neutralize the effect of another sign that knives need to be purchased for money, buy off evil spirits). For some peoples, such an action turns the bad superstition of 'finding a knife' into a good omen about a person who will fulfill all plans and dreams.
- Take the find through a thick cloth (do not touch the item with your bare hands).
- Sprinkle the find with holy water, light church candles and read the prayers 'About the found thing' and 'Our Father'.
- Hold the found knife in salt or running spring water.
Recommendations on what to do if a lining knife is found in the house:
- Take the scary object outside.
- You don't need it – bury the knife with the handkerchief.
- Perform a general cleaning of the house.
- Wipe all mirrored surfaces in a circular motion as many times as the mirror serves.

Any signs are strong by faith in them. In order not to attract evil into your life, you do not need to think about the bad. Finding a knife is only a warning about possible problems, but a person is the creator of his own destiny.
