Death causes genuine fear and at the same time curiosity, since no one knows what awaits us on the other side. Perhaps that is why there are so many superstitions associated with it. Both the interpretation of Old Church Slavonic signs and the opinion of modern esotericists are quite similar: suspicious and superstitious people cannot look at the funeral from their window. And there is an explanation for that.
- There is an opinion that the soul of the deceased leaves our world only 40 days after the death of a person. Until that time, she stays among us, and during the funeral she keeps near the body. They say that the soul will feel a curious look from the outside and this will cause its anger. Diseases can fall on a person, the financial situation will noticeably deteriorate, and quarrels will increasingly arise in the family.
- During the farewell to the deceased, all those present experience heavy feelings, the atmosphere is saturated with negative energy, the soul leaves the body and the gates to the other world are gradually opened. If a person keeps his attention on the funeral procession, then through the opened gates numerous troubles and troubles will burst into his life.
- Another development of events is also possible. If the deceased was a calm person during his lifetime, then his soul will appear in a dream to the one who watched the funeral from the window, and call him after him. The deceased was a scandalous person – his angry spirit can behave aggressively, frightening the watcher at night and making his life unbearable.
It is considered very dangerous if a child is watching the funeral through a window. The energy field in children is too weak, and therefore the consequences can be very unpleasant: serious diseases of the body, mental illness, serious mental disorders.
- When a person looks at the deceased through the window, he takes the fate of the deceased. After a while, the problems of the deceased, even his illness, may burst into his life. Observation from the outside is considered disrespectful. The wrath of Heaven will await the violator of traditions.
How to protect yourself if it happened by accident?
To avoid trouble, according to popular belief, you must do the following:
- Immediately turn away from the window and close them tightly with curtains.
- Mentally join the procession, even if you did not know each other during your lifetime.
- Say goodbye to the deceased, wish him soft clouds and the kingdom of heaven.
- If you are an Orthodox person, you should pray for the deceased.

Superstitious people say that if someone is sleeping in the house at this time, then it is imperative to wake him up. The fact is that entities from the other world are able to enter the house through the glass, and since a person becomes very vulnerable during sleep, he can be seriously injured. They say that the astral body, heading into another dimension, is looking for a companion, and it may well be the soul of the sleeping person.
What is the right thing to do during the funeral procession?
Superstitious people advise to leave the house and walk with the procession for at least 5 minutes. At the same time, it is advisable to express your condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased.
By accompanying the bereaved, you will show respect for their grief and will take trouble away from you. And here we are talking not so much about the signs associated with the funeral, but about the traditions and norms that it is desirable to follow.
