There is a cathedral in the French city of Reims the rarest gospel called the Book of Angels. This old the manuscript has become a kind of link between France and Russia, and here’s why: the French kings on the Reims Gospel many generations have been sworn in, while the Book itself Angels was associated with Russia.

Why was the Reims Gospel called the Book of Angels? The thing is, that for a long time it was considered mysterious, written in non understandable to any French theologian language of the Bible. With someone’s light tongue, this language was called the language of angels – hence the name books. Imagine how surprised the clergy and monks of France were when the beginning of the eighteenth century suddenly revealed that the language of angels on in fact, Russian. But more on that later.

In the nineteenth century the legend spread that the Book of Angels – this is the gospel of Anna Yaroslavna, who was the youngest daughter Yaroslav the Wise and in the eleventh century married a French King Henry the First, moving from Kiev to Reims. At coronation on this Book of angels she, they say, and gave the oath.
Later, the gospel brought from Kiev was connected with another Slavic Gospel, written in the Czech Glagolitic language. IN the final version of this became the Book of Angels.
Travel Books of Angels
The United Gospel Charles the Fourth donated to the monks Emmaus monastery, from where it was transported by the Hussites to Constantinople and acquired in personal ownership by Charles Lorraine. He sacrificed this Christian manuscript. Reims Cathedral.
Since the mid-sixteenth century, this manuscript, as a Book angels, since it is written, according to the French, on completely a mysterious language, kept in this cathedral. It is stored to this day. It was on her that the French kings swore allegiance throne.

In 1717, Peter the Great visited France, who visited, of course, and in the Rhine, where Catholic priests showed him its main relic is an old manuscript written in the language angels. However, Peter, taking the book in his hands, freely began to read aloud the text written in it, which quite surprised the local monks. Not less, the mystery of the mysterious Bible was revealed – it turns out written in Russian.
Unfortunately, during the French Revolution (1789-99 years) precious stones that once adorned the binding of the Book of Angels, were stolen and now the Reims Gospel looks not so majestic, as historians describe it.
