Unknown UFO documents from German intelligenceA photo from open sources

For many years, the German government constantly insisted that it was never officially interested in collecting and studying reports of observation of unidentified flying objects.

But the editor of the German blog GreWi.de, Andreas Muller, put questioning this position of high-ranking officials by submitting their readers a collection of classified UFO documents from German Federal Intelligence Agency (BND) obtained at a fairly interesting circumstances.

Declassified information completely changes the idea of about the attitude of the German government on the topic of UFOs.

In 2008, the former Minister of the Interior, Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble, repeated what other officials over the past decades stubbornly presented to their citizens when they asked about the official position on the issue of interest German army UFO theme:

“I don’t know any officially operating service, institute or any other administrative authority that would deal with exploration of flying objects known as UFOs. Also me unknown about the existence of such research projects, operating somewhere under the auspices of some government body. ”

A folder marked with the stamps of the German BND recently hit hands of the public, put the above statements German officialdom in a very awkward position. Already the title itself a collection of documents with a total of 67 pages – “UFO”, as well as subtitles: “observations of unidentified flying objects over the border territory of West Germany with the GDR and Czechoslovakia, “say the opposite.

Paradoxes of Law

These documents can be found by the keyword “UFO” in German Federal Archives (Bundesarchiv) located in Koblenz. From point view of law, all these papers must be kept under the stamp secrecy for 30 years according to the data protection regulation in Federal Archive, that is – until 2021. Paradoxically, but this security can be bypassed by making a request for viewing documents before the official release date.

If someone has already passed the verification procedure to access him, then these files will also be available for later candidates interested in them. Everything indicates that, since these the documents also contained information not related to UFOs and concerning many non-relevant information on the situation in the border of the GDR and the FRG in the communist period, someone had previously got full access to them. But, despite this, the indicated documents still do not appear in any of the government lists. In a word, officially they are under the stamp secrecy.

Documents held in the archive with identification code “B 206/1914 – Bestand B 206 des Bundesnachrichtendienstes “, which became the reason for the lively debate does not yet prove that the federal intelligence investigated UFO reports from the perspective of some exotic or even extraterrestrial versions of the origin of this phenomena.

State Security Issues During the Cold War placed above all. The location of Soviet troops in the GDR and Czechoslovakia, as well as spy activities in general by Warsaw Pact countries were a threat.

There was also the potential for breaking the air border on unconventional aircraft. So most collected communications concerning reports of border services and border patrol units. There are also several posts from civilians.

Close contact on the island of Fehmarn

Although the vast majority contained in the documents observations and can be explained by Soviet drones, probes and balls (as, for example, used in the USSR type drone “Tupolev M-141”), but a small part of them was still not found rational explanations.

At least for the eyewitnesses themselves, what they saw with my own eyes, did not fit into the framework of any known categories of terrestrial phenomena, and official investigations carried out failed to give these observations any satisfactory explanation.

The most interesting case occurred in 1986 on the island of Fehmarn (the third largest island on the Baltic Sea), which after post-war redistribution of borders was part of Germany. Documents German BND describe in detail the following way:

“In the early morning of August 26, 1986, between 03:00 and 03:30, three Puttgarden frontier guards at night shift from office windows watched an unknown object, rather slowly moving towards the nearest ferry station. At the same time the object was observed by a customs officer, 300 meters from the first groups of eyewitnesses at the pier of the station. After them thorough interrogation, the following circumstances were established affairs:

1. An unidentified object approached the ferry station with west side (it did not resemble any of the known aircraft).

2. The object flew at an altitude of 50-60 m.

3. When he was directly above the station, he slowed down speed almost to a complete stop in the air.

4. At this very moment, border guards heard the sound emitted by the object is “a quiet rumble like the noise of a working turbines. ”

5. Employees could not determine the approximate size, shape or the color of the observed phenomenon for several reasons:

1) it was a dark night;

2) the object emitted strong light, almost dazzling. One of officers suggested that it was a conscious measure to prevent the identification of the object, because of this it is impossible was to distinguish no side lights;

6. Being located above the ferry station, the facility continued its movement at the same height eastward, flying near naval base (about 600 m);

7. Attempts to get more information from other success staff did not have. Requests were sent to the Navy bases at Westermakeldsdorf, Marienieuchte and Stabernuk (all on Fehmarn), as well as Frontier Guard Air Squadron, ferry management Puttgarden stations, German ferries “Deutschland” and “Karl Carstens” and the Danish police at Redby. ”

Although eyewitnesses rejected the possibility of observing the aircraft or helicopter, in the further content of the above report is not excludes the possibility of observing a Soviet helicopter, which was seen on the same day at about 07:00 (3-4 hours later) over the German coast near Lübeck, which was also recorded in local press. Resumed based on this assumption Further investigation ended with a negative result.

The Importance of BDN Documents

Regardless of how ufologists and military experts relate to to these indications from the discovered BDN documents, their value by German government’s interest in UFOs is unprecedented. The very fact of the existence of such documents contrary to the well-known position of the German authorities for years presented through the media to ordinary people: that never any government, bodies, ministries, institutions and military services do not collected reports of UFOs.

Moreover, the fact of the existence of materials from German intelligence services on UFO is a circumstance that supports the opinion Independent Congress of Research and Science (Wissenschaftliche Dienste) regarding the attitude to the topic of UFOs and extraterrestrial life. In their an official statement can be read that:

“Due to keen interest from the UK and France (as well as several other countries) to the issue of potential the existence of the UFO phenomenon and generally extraterrestrial life, as well as what these countries expressed a desire to publish online with open public access previously secreted documents on the subject, German federal authorities and ministries are also interested in this issue and are conducting analysis of questions from citizens regarding the case. ”

It may seem strange that the above opinion of Congress research and science is currently the subject ongoing litigation in which the administration German parliament stubbornly opposes the publicity of any information or classified documents in the UFO case contrary to current law on freedom of information.

In fact, BND documents directly indicate that interest governments to the topic of UFOs existed in the past (and maybe still exists). These notes also suggest that there were a number of reporting procedures and legal mechanisms and the analysis of UFO sightings in Germany from civilians, military personnel and civil servants.

According to the submitted documents it can be seen that even practiced sending requests for specific research UFO related procedures, and some regarding possible assistance in analysis sent directly to specific military units or the Ministry of the Interior itself. At that a ministry that over the years has argued that “by nothing interesting can be said about the UFO case. ”
