Pregnancy is the most enjoyable time in a woman's life. A small miracle grows and develops in her, for which she is responsible. Whatever happens to the mother, any of her emotions is reflected in the harmonious development of the baby.

In ancient Russia, before the advent of Christianity, a woman was considered a sacred person. She gave life. The girl, the mother-to-be, was brought up with trepidation and special instructions, she was more protected from danger.
The old woman, who gave birth, but was no longer able to give birth, had respect in the family, could participate in meetings on an equal basis with men. A pregnant woman could not leave the tribal settlement, since during this period she was more susceptible to the influence of unclean forces.
It was forbidden to insult a woman in labor. This entailed terrible consequences, up to expulsion from the tribal community. The man was responsible for the well-being of his wife. If trouble happened to her, the husband had to answer before the family and the Gods.
Fearing punishment, the men came up with a number of prohibitions for pregnant women:
- the threshold in Russia was considered the border of two worlds, so the expectant mother was forbidden to sit on it;
- you can't cut your hair – dark people could pick it up and harm the entire community;
- you can not do needlework – this will harm the woman in labor and the baby (the child will be born wrapped in the umbilical cord), etc.
Our ancestors quite reasonably endured a number of taboos, noting the direct connection between insult and miscarriage. Later these laws began to be forgotten, turning into superstitions and fairy tales.
With the advent of Christianity, many of the ancient commandments ceased to exist. They remained in the memory of society in the form of folk signs:
- He who insulted a woman carrying a child, insulted the Gods. This entailed dire consequences for the offender himself and his family members.
- To meet a pregnant lady on the street is to joy and profit. But if the counter person offends her, he will fail in business for many years.
- You cannot humiliate a woman in position – this will lead to discord in the family, a break with loved ones.
- Physical abuse in the future will result in serious illness or injury.
- You can not insult a young lady in the position of nulliparous girls. For them, such an offense can result in infertility or affect their future daughters.
In Christianity, the Virgin Mary (Mother of God) is revered – the woman who gave birth to Jesus Christ. Therefore, any rude word in relation to a lady in a position is a terrible sin.
According to biblical canons, sin can spread over seven generations. Even people who have done nothing wrong will be held accountable for a relative's misconduct.
Why can't a pregnant woman be denied?
Carrying a child from a loved one, every woman expects some kind of gratitude from a man.
At this time, mom's body changes. This is due to the fact that the body is mobilized for the beneficial development of the fetus and subsequently for childbirth. The hormonal background changes, a psychological and physiological change occurs. Immunity now works for the good of the baby. Fears and depression are common and it is very important that loved ones support the woman.
Now there is an opinion that pregnancy is natural for the beautiful half of humanity. On the one hand, this is a true statement. But explain this to primipara! From the first minutes, as a girl finds out that she will become a mother, the whole world changes for her. And the man, for the sake of whom the young lady took a huge risk for her life, is simply obliged not to refuse her anything!
Any rude word in relation to a girl in position is a terrible sin.
If you do not treat the pregnant woman with food, in old age the offender will die in great need, and the woman herself will have a difficult birth. This superstition is explained by the fact that the female body, and in particular the growing baby, requires certain products. The expectant mother should eat whatever food she wants so that the baby is born healthy.
So before unreasonably refusing a pregnant woman, you need to think several times about the consequences of this. If the refusal can somehow be justified and explain why it is impossible to fulfill the request, then the offense is perceived much more painfully.
Many react to the offense of a pregnant woman with a quote: 'They used to give birth in the field, all were tender.' However, no one kept statistics on the mortality of pregnant women. If only those around, offending the pregnant woman, remembered that from a psycho-emotional failure (even short-term) the life of a little person and the mother herself can end!
