Stories about two English women, unexpected for themselves Caught in the Versailles gardens of the 18th century, for more than a hundred years. However, the story of the ghosts of Versailles is still of interest to mystics and just lovers of everything inexplicable. Let’s, touch this story and you and I …

August 1901 Two young school teachers, Eleanor Jourdain and Charlotte Ann Moberly arrived in Paris with enthusiasm began to explore the sights of the French capital. Both girls were from noble families and taught in the old, the venerable schools of England. They’ve been in Paris for nine days, when they decided to visit the Palace of Versailles together.

Having examined his rooms, the girls went down to the gardens, orienting themselves along guidebook. Charlotte and Eleanor were looking for the palace of Lesser Trianon when realized that they got lost and have no idea where exactly are located. The girls felt a vague sense of anxiety that growing with every minute: although it was August and everything was buried in greenery, in this part of the Versailles Gardens, the trees stood for some reason in the winter naked and dead, and the strangest thing is that they are not at all cast shadows …

Everything seemed somehow unreal, as if it were happening in a dream. In the alleys, people began to appear in old-fashioned clothes – among girls it seemed as if in the gardens of Versailles silent theater performance from which it was impossible not to come in horror. Women and men in clothes of past centuries silently They showed them the way to the Small Trianon, and there were things around, not belonging to our time and long gone out of use. Moberly and Jourdain saw a man sitting on the ground, with his face fully mutilated smallpox, and a woman in a rich old dress, which seemed vaguely familiar to them.

Then the girls saw the bridge and, crossing it, as if dropped a terrible veil from my eyes. However that vision left an indelible mark in their souls and made us believe in reality and the proximity of the intangible world. Eleanor and Charlotte began to study the history of Versailles and suddenly realized that a woman with familiar features the faces they met in the garden are none other than Marie Antoinette. The girls were convinced that somehow transported to Versailles during the French Revolution, namely – in 1789, in the days preceding the arrest of the queen.

In 1911, English women published the book Adventure, in which described their impressions of walking in the garden surrounded by ghosts. And although women claimed in her that everything they told was pure True, the book was criticized, and Jourdain and Moberly were accused of lies. Evidence that the events described in the book – fiction, became an unfortunate bridge, the existence of which in Versailles gardens of the period of the French Revolution there are no documentary evidence. However after a while in a chimney of the palace was found a map on which in front of the Small Trianon clearly visible bridge.

Does this prove the truth of the story that the two told the world impressionable english women? There is still no answer to this question. But it seems to us that proves …
