Using ultraviolet rays on the pages of the ancient manuscript was discovered previously invisible mysterious poem and images of ghost faces. This medieval the manuscript, called the Black Book, is written exclusively in Welsh. It was created around 1250 and contains texts dated from the 9th to the 12th century (including including some of the earliest references to King Arthur and wizard Merlin).

Cambridge University graduate student Miraia Williams says she previously suggested that she knew all about the Black Book, while ghosts from the past did not come back to life literally on her eyes. Williams believes that found in the recovery process drawings and poems not only increase historical value manuscripts, but also make the process itself unusually interesting.

Back in 1904, the founder of the National Library of Wales, John Williams acquired the Black Book, but only recently its pages underwent a thorough scientific analysis. As it turned out, the fields manuscript pages often contain both medieval and more modern editions of the text that were invisible to the eye, as someone carefully wiped them. Experts believe that it is these annotations that can shed light on what conclusions people came to read these pages.

As it turned out, the most serious annotations were written in the margins this manuscript until the 16th century. Williams suggests that the owner books in a given time period was a man named jasper Griffith, and what exactly he took the trouble to clear the pages manuscript, which for many centuries passed from hand to hand hands.

Using ultraviolet light and software image editing, Williams was able to detect fragments of deleted records. For example, page 39V clearly ghostly faces are visible, as well as lines of text that relate to 14-15th century. On page 40V, the complete verse is viewed, which supposedly dated to the 13th century. Also on the pages manuscripts there is another poorly visible picture above which experts work.

According to scientists, this manuscript is extremely valuable and historically important. Most likely, the author of this book is one person who during his life not only collected, but also supplemented it by myself. The text of the manuscript contains 54 pages, it includes not only spiritual verses, but also other types poetry.

Williams said that in the manuscript she has a favorite page under number 49R, which contains a fantastically stylized the image of the dog, as well as two verses allegedly created the author of the book. However, these findings are only the tip of the iceberg, because thanks to modern visualization methods, the main discoveries related to the manuscript await us ahead.
