Werewolves or shifters are considered mythological creatures, however, there are thousands (or maybe millions) of stories that talk about real werewolves. True, a lot of fiction, especially writers and filmmakers who simply love this theme to create their soul-breaking horror movies.
But there are scientists who are seriously passionate about this topic, and they see werewolves as real entities, believing that all this is not mysticism, but some incomprehensible to us (unsolved by us) the mystery of Nature.
