In the “Oryol Herald” for 1895 an interesting story was reported about a ghost and it was described that the violent death of a teacher from the village Morozov of the Volkhov district and subsequent numerous phenomena the ghost of the murdered gave rise to riots. The teacher was stabbed and robbed in the Suryaninsky forest at the time when he was carrying a large amount of money belonging to master A.D. Yurasovsky. In a strange way, he was involved in further events. Someone Karneyev. Local historian E. Nugard in his book “The Storm of times of serfdom in the Oryol province “(Orel, 1901) in detail tells about uniform nightmares that began shortly after the brutal murder of the teacher. He writes: “In one clear wonderful, but only it wasn’t for Karneyev that he had to go alone without a coachman from Karachev to Volkhov. In the Suryaninsky forest, in the very place where the teacher was stabbed, Karneev’s horse snored, shook and stopped dead in her tracks. Karneev looked ahead, and suddenly … his heart sank … he sees that some kind of crew is coming to his crew a man in a dress of German cut, all covered in blood. Karneev looked at him and gasped.

Stopping Karneev, the teacher began to demand with testimony of him according to the judgment of God, where he called him with him head to heaven immediately. In this case, the teacher bowing Karneev, took off his severed head, like a hat. Terrible trembling penetrated Karneeva. Clicking his teeth, he wanted to cross himself, but instead, without feeling, he crashed into the carriage. What happened to him further, he does not know. I came to my senses in my own house, in the bathhouse, where his wife cast almost cold with all her relatives water, wanting to bring to life. “The story with the ghost of a teacher is not ended on that. Soon Karneev began to meet a ghost everywhere, wherever he goes, even in church. Unable to stand it uninterruptedly lasting nightmare, he committed suicide! Of course, long before the suicide, he notified all relatives and friends about his encounters with a ghost that bowed to him by sticking own severed head under the arm. After the death of Karneev the ghost did not calm down. He began to appear on Bolshaya Volkhovskaya road and pester the passers-by and passers-by. Complained to him, quietly howling with fear, at Karneev, who supposedly refused to appear with him, a ghost, in heaven – at the judgment of God. Wherein the ghost bowed and took off its severed head like a hat. It called on all consecutive riders and passers-by to “go with him to court God’s “and confirm there that the slaughtered teacher was exactly stabbed, killed, and not committed suicide. Then the dead man with his head under his arm began to appear in other places of the county that caused terrible confusion among the people. The police intervened however, to catch the ghost and put it in jail could … Five angry men dug at night in a cemetery the corpse of a slaughtered teacher with the intention of driving an aspen into his heart count But the cry of some bird for some reason terrified them, and they they fled from the cemetery, throwing in a panic the tomb they had opened. Soon to one of the grave diggers began to receive at night someone invisible and whisper in your ear: “Say! Say!” Following this, he dreamed terrible screaming, screeching, gnashing of teeth and satanic laughter … Man not withstood this terrible obsession and rushed to the police. is he confessed that he was among the robbers who killed the teacher and stole money from him. A man betrayed all his accomplices. Assassins tried and exiled to an eternal settlement in Siberia. Apparently this satisfied the ghost of the teacher. He stopped appearing to people.
