The passage was erected over a hundred years ago by order of the Kazan merchant Chernoyarova. Rather, the author of the project, architect Rush, rebuilt two previously built stone houses, combining them with one common facade. It was the second passage in Kazan – the first, Aleksandrovsky, was quite nearby. In those days, cities with two passages in There were only three Russia – Moscow, Petersburg and Kazan. Building built in an eclectic style. Unfortunately, the wide balcony is not preserved, however, the front and back entrances, stairs, part of arches and cast curly railings. Also during the restructuring many doors and windows were walled up. Passage represented a classic apartment building. Chernoyarov rented out part of the area under trading shops, and also lived here himself, with his family and servants. Suddenly flared up in their house the fire, and the owners burned down … Under what circumstances the fire is still unknown, it is possible that it was an arson – the owners were tired of persuasion, and they decided to eliminate the obstacle in a radical way. Since then, fires have flashed in the building more than once. For example, utility rooms were burning in which workers lived. At this they saw a certain “lady in red.” It is possible that it was a wife Veniaminova, burnt in her house. The most creepy story happened with the son of Chernoyarov. The boy suffocated from carbon monoxide gas in his nursery. There was only one in a huge mansion the stove – the fact is that already in 1904 there was steam heating. The maid blundered – she hastened to close the damper before how the coals burned out. The child’s body was found only in the morning. In the Soviet era in the building housed communal apartments. Authorities mercilessly changed the layout, not caring about the preservation of antiquity, for example, cut down arches to establish standard rectangular the door. The second and third floors were a corridor system, in the center of which was a staircase illuminated by a lantern. The lantern was also removed. A year ago, the mansion acquired the famous Kazan businessman Kamil Shaydarov. The building makes him nostalgic feelings: when he was a baby, his family lived here in communal apartment. Shaydarov later bought an apartment in one from neighboring houses – also old. The new owner is going to take space for rent and, if possible, to revive the Passage in the form in which he existed under Chernoyarov. So far, only ground floor premises to complete the restoration process, it takes another five years. Kamil Shaydarov intends to restore not only the historical appearance of the Passage, but also outbuildings.
