In the California forest Presidio, which is located near San Francisco, the other day a landmark event for America happened: here marked the beginning of the revival of the most ancient forests of this continent – sequoia. In the form of the first experiment, enthusiasts dropped off 75 seedlings of these mighty trees that can reach heights in hundred and more meters and are considered practically immortal trees. Thus, a grove of young sequoias appeared in California – just amazing!
But where did the Americans get the seedlings of this practically a tree that has disappeared from the American mainland? Turns them out were grown based on an experiment by Archangel Ancient Tree Archive, which created clones in the laboratory almost three years ago sequoia, taking DNA from the stumps of mighty red trees, stumps that are not less than three thousand years. By the way, they were powerful sequoias, diameter whose trunks was about 10 meters, and the height reached 120-130 meters. For comparison, we say that the most powerful (still alive) mahogany “General Sherman” reaches the diameter of its trunk so far only 7.6 meters.
The event we are describing is also surprising because it was still believed that clone any dead trees, including including sequoias, it is impossible – for this, DNA of a living trunk is needed. AND here scientists have proved that this is an erroneous theory. They are a long time hid the results of their experiment from the general public, not quite sure themselves of its success.
And today we can say that success is still there, and in the world a real young grove of future mighty sequoias appeared, which in America, we note, was discovered only at the end of the 19th century. By the way, when one Leonard traveled through the Sierra Nevada mountains in 1883 I came across a grove of 100-meter sequoias and wrote about it enthusiastically the book, his stories were considered fiction …
Unfortunately, later these “fantastic” sequoias simply cut down and destroyed by man for commercial purposes. And no one did not take care that this fabulous (without any exaggeration) descendants could see the forest.
Presumably, the descendants of today’s archangel scientists Ancient Tree Archive, and all those who participated in the creation this unique grove of 75 redwood seedlings will certainly see America’s mighty red trees and tell the current generation Americans for this huge “thank you” …
